Memorial of St. John Damascene
Today is the optional memorial of St. John Damascene, (or St. John of Damascus,) priest and doctor. He was a theologian and composer of many liturgical hymns. As with many Saints, I cannot do his work justice by merely listing it all... There is so much to learn about and from him, so much to read and discover! He died in 749. Lord, may the prayers of St. John Damascene help us, and may the true faith he taught so well always be our light and our strength. Amen.
